Meet Rena

I’m Rena (pronounced Renee), founder of Assured Hope Counseling Services. I have a loving and supportive family. Being a wife to an amazing and supportive husband, a mother to four beautiful daughters and one bonus daughter, and a Gigi to 9 grandchildren keeps me busy and brings me much joy and fulfillment. However, life has not always been peaches and cream. I endured many struggles along the way. But because there were people who loved me, poured into me, and did not give up on me, I was able to move beyond a life filled with shame, doubt, low self-esteem, and self-destruction. It takes great strength and resilience to overcome struggles and transform your life, and I did it. Therefore, I am passionate about helping others find hope and achieve wholeness, happiness, and the life they deserve!

Drawing on my extensive education, training, and experience, I offer a distinctive blend of open-mindedness, effective communication skills, and a genuine desire to assist you in exploring the challenges you face. As a committed Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families, focusing on interpersonal and intrapersonal issues. My knowledge and expertise enable me to support individuals on their healing journeys from depression, anxiety, and trauma. I am confident that my background will be invaluable in helping you navigate your challenges. My approach is rooted in healing and empathy, empowering you to view the world, yourself, and your relationships from a fresh perspective. I am dedicated to making a positive impact and firmly believe in my ability to facilitate meaningful change in your life. With compassion and a deep understanding of the transformative nature of therapy, I look forward to embarking on this journey with you.

In addition to my work with individuals, couples, and families, I have facilitated group sessions for survivors of sexual abuse, women in recovery from substance abuse, and postpartum moms. I have also provided spiritual guidance to women seeking purpose in life and taught nursing students about trauma-informed care. My passion for this profession is evident in the therapy room, where I wholeheartedly engage with my clients, driven by a genuine desire to foster their growth and well-being.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and African American Studies from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. I earned a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Counseling from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL. I have seven years of professional experience in counseling and a lifetime of personal experience.
